Founders Craft: Episode #1

In this episode, Mike Gonzalez shares his story on how he started PerfectHQ, and he gives some tips on how you can discover your why.

Why I started the Founder’s Craft Podcast:

When you think about many business podcasts, they always give you the what, and the how, but often overlook the “why”. I chose to start this podcast, to uncover the process behind the craft of the Founder. This will not just focus on the what and the how, but also the why. How do we discover the steps to develop our own instinct to solve the problems that we’re facing? This world is constantly changing. Which means the way we did things yesterday may not work for today. You will have a conviction that is driving you, and you’ll know why you do what you do.

In this season I’m going to focus on the foundational character traits of successful leaders. The process behind their craft. Each episode will be around 25 minutes. You’ll get a chance to listen to my conversations with Leaders giving us a behind the scenes look into the process of discovering the outcome, the process of discovering the craft.  I will discuss the mindsets that are necessary to navigate through decisions we as business leaders face. Everything from starting a remote business, to scaling your vision, your team, and your impact.

Why you do what you do?

Do you have a clear understanding of your why? Here are two steps shared in the Podcast on how to begin to uncover and embrace your why.

  1. Ask yourself, what is it that keeps you awake at night? One way to approach this is to think about what you find yourself frustrated or underwhelmed with. What gets you excited? What are you constantly aware of?
  2. Why are things the way they are? Once you discover why things are the way they are you will develop theories and processes that will give you a path to pursue your why. This will also give you an anchor, a deep conviction to hold on to when circumstances cause you to doubt your why.
